Francis Frith (1822-1898) made three photographic expeditions to Egypt and Palestine between 1856 and 1860  creating some of the first views of these areas to be made available to the public. This image comes from that work, done in 1857.  Frith later produced works from Italy, Scandinavia, Switzerland, Japan, China, and India, as well as an extensive body of images of Great Britain.  Frith is considered to be the "father" of travel photography.  This image is authentic and original.
